dvd read problem

i too have this problem but my dvd-rw drive is an 8x emprex drive.... it will burn disks but not read them or any original cd's/dvd's either... explorer hangs the system until i eject the disk. i am using a amd 64bit 3500+ 1gb corsair xms2 ddr2 pc 6400, asrock am2 nf3-vsta main board with an agp 8x 256mb nvidia 6600 graphics card. with over 320gb of hard drive space in 4 drives (1 usb) my drive works perfectly in xp sp2

please start your own threads
if it works ok in xp
then what is it not working in,there is obviously nothing wrong with the drive
