CD Drive issue

Anyway I have a SONY CD-RW CRX216E on my computer and it isnt working properly. When I put in a disk in starts reading it as normal but windows explorer stops responding and freezes. Im not exactly that tech savy when it comes to hardware related issues, so any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

Has it worked before and just quit? How do you have it set up, like jumpers, what else is on the cable and how are those set up?

Hi,

Go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, and see if there are any red or yellow marks anyplace. Post back with that information. Also, have you made any changes, like added programs? Have you tried System Restore to when it was working?

No to both of those questions. I think it stopped working a while ago because I remember my mom bought some blank cds and they didnt work, I thought it was the CD problem but recently I tried opening a disc and this happened. I know the disc works because I can read it using my dvd drive.
