CD-ROMs are read only. Makes sure you have a cd-r\rw drive and cd-r disk and use a burning program. You cannot simply copy and paste.

Sorry I should have been more clear, that was something else I tried after I tried to do it the normal way by writing the files to cd with the wizard, which didn't work.
It says there is no disk in the drive, but there is and I've tried over 5 different discs. ![]() It is a writable disc, and so are the others because I've used them before without problem. Last edited by vicedice; 10-27-2006 at 07:44 AM. |

Thanks for that, all others are working fine, such as Nero. But the default windows wizard that writes files to CDs doesn't work and even if I did begin using another program to write files to a CD Id' still be annoyed at the thought of the default wizard not working, so I really want to fix it up.
![]() Any idea how? |

burn it to disk with imgburn or something similar
then run sfc /sannow with the disk in and it will install what is missing or corrupt from the disk http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...n/1128426215/1

Hey again dai.. I just downloaded it from http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/xpsp2.html
Please tell me it's the right one, I spent an hour and a half downloading it. I just wrote it to a blank cd with Nero, but when I did the sfc /scannow it said I put in the wrong disc, do I need to extract the files from the cabinet file I downloaded and THEN write it to the cd instead of just writing the cabinet file itself? Thanks! |

Forget my above post.
I got the i386 folder on disc with all the files inside that folder, but it says it's the wrong disc? Should I just put the files on the disc by themselves and not inside the i386 folder? |

The file I downloaded is called: WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe
Imgburn says it isn't a img file or something. Are you sure I don't need to open it up and get a file out of it and then burn that particular file? |
