[SOLVED] DVD drive won't work

Hi
I'm trying to read DVD-Rs on my DVD-ROM drive, they used to work perfectly fine, but in the middle of unrar-ing a file from the dvd, it said "read error", and hasn't read any data DVD-Rs since then...I put in a video DVD, though, and it read it.

the error message it gives when I try to explore the dvd drive says:

E:\ is not accessible
The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable

My System

Does it recognise CDs or is it just DVDs?

Which burning software are you using? Are they burned as UDF?

Can the discs be read on another PC/drive?

Have you tried a lens cleaner?

they're DVDs burned normally with Nero, and they can be read just fine from my laptop. I don't have money to buy a lens cleaner, is there something I can try myself? I don't want to mess it up with a q-tip or anything if that's a bad idea

Re: DVD drive won't work

Problem was it was an averatec computer, therefore it was falling apart since it was bought new. so it was just a crappy dvd burner that's now out of warranty and doesn't and won't work. lesson: don't buy averatec computers
