DVD burner/Nero Prob

I recently bought a DVD burner and I have Nero Express v6.0 I believe. Anyway, When I try to make a Data DVD, It freezes up halfway through. That's Burning about 3-4 GB at 16x. If I decrese it to 4x. (I only burnt 1GB however, don't know if it matters), It completed it without a problem. What do you guys think could be wrong?

check how high your tempretures are going while you are burning

Also, check the speeds if your discs. They can only be written on that fast. A 4x disc will error out (and possibly freeze up like that) if it's trying to be written on at 16x.

I checked the discs, and they say 1x-16x, so I would assume 16x should work, but I'm trying one at 8x, just to see. Maybe, 16x is a bit much, since the max for the disc is 16x. Is that possible? And how would I find out the temperature of my system while burning?

i bought some 16x disk that would fail at anything over 4x for your temp readings try this
