Confused will not recoginise any disc

hi i have an nec 3500 dvd rewriter,i am running windows xp home edition.
i had to take my computer to the shop recently to have a repair reinstallation of windows.
when i got my computer home i found the drive will not recognise any type of disc i put into it,i have tried every type of disc i.e.dvd movie, music all brands of dvd and cd, rewritable and not rewritable.but it will not acknowledge any at all.
i tried a dvd lens cleaner, but the drive won't even recognise there is anything in it so it dose'nt clean

Hi,

Did you or they load the drivers back on for that disk? If you do a repair install, there are drivers that must be loaded back on the computer and my guess is that was not completed.
