since june when i moved to ill and changed to comcast and McAfee antivirus my computor hangs up and when it does the light on my cd writer is on. i have used regseeker tolean my registry but didnt help. can any body help?

Is comcast a anti-virus program too? If it is, this is where your problem lies. Un-install one.

Hi there...it may not be related to the cd drive at all. It may not open as your CPU is being overworked by other processes on your PC.
As the problem has only started since you installed McAfee, it could be a resource issue. Would you be able to reply to this post with some more details on your PC such as system specs (RAM, CPU, Motherboard etc)?

[ive only had the computer since 01 thanks]
that makes it granpa age it should still open and close,try another power plug in it if there is a small pin hole on the front gentley push a needle in until you feel it contact the the trip and see if it opens,is there a chance you have jammed a cd in it see if you can see it listed in the bios try avg free from www.grisoft.com
