USB issues after mac testing
i lent my neighbour my corsair 256 flash voyager to try on his computer, and now i've got it back, it is telling me it is not formatted, it won't format and it sometimes says it is write protected, depending on how you try to format it.
It certainly wasnt write protected when I gave it to him! i think he may have tried plugging it into a mac, but i don't know what effect this would have. it should register on my system as a corsair usb memory drive, but on checking what drives i have, it mentions a "prolific" one, i presume this is the device I have just plugged in, but have no idea why it now thinks its that! any help would be much appreciated. i'd like the data on it back, but clearly i'd rather have it working and blank than not working at all. Cheers |

Hi!
There is usually a small switch somewhere on the side of the memory stick. This is the lock mecanism, and can easily be moved to the lock position by accident. Check this. As far as putting it in a Mac, that should not affect it. Have you tried it in any other USB slots on your computer? |

the first thing i checked for was a switch, a la the old days of floppy write protecting, but mine is a corsair voyager, so its not a crap plastic thing, its got a waterproof rubber casing, and hence no external switch.
i've tried it in numerous ports on my xp pro, and i've also tried it on my other xp home, with the same result both times. i cannot think of anything else to do! |

Hi,
try getting help from their support team here: http://tsxpress.corsairmemory.com/fl...port_tips.aspx First look through the trouble shooting, then if that doesn't work, then at the bottom, click no to "did this solve your problem". Fill the form out, and then they will hopefully give you online support. I can't think of anything else. |
