Sony DDU1622 won't record on 16X media

HI, I hope someone can help me. I'm running Wid98se and using a Sony DDU1622 DVD-Rom Drive unit...... I have used it with no problems and still use it as long as I use slow speed media. I tried to use 16X media and I get a message that I have no space on disk. I tried 2 different media brands. I can't figured this one out......Works great as long as I use the old disk but they are getting hard to find. Do I need new drivers or firmware???? If so where can I get them???? Thank

Your drive might not be compatible with the higher speeds.
A uprade may be required.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I looked up the specs on my drive and it should record on 16X media but it won't. Looks like I might need to get another DVD drive. Anyone know the best drive to buy? Thanks again.
