drive opens half way

does any1 know how to fix a cd-drive?

i have a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive that i am having problems with. when i press the eject button the drive only comes out half way. i assumed that some part of the mechanism was not right so i opened it up.

i now have the top half off and can see that when i press eject it comes out a bit and i hear a noise...(like a snap or some sort...although nothing seems to be broken)...it then goes back in....................

any suggestions?
