Ispiron 6000 and Sony DVD+RW DW-D56A Problem
Ok, here's the deal. I have an Ispiron 6000 with a Sony DVD+RW DW-D56A that I am having problems with. The drive seems to burn most dvd's fine, with the exception of any dvd containing video files (.avi, .mpeg, etc.) What happens is this:
In the case of a data dvd conatining video files. The burn completes correctly (or so it says). When I try to open the DVD though, it does not work. Sometimes I can open the first couple of video files, but not all of them. Sometimes I cannot open any of them. In the case of a video DVD, such as that created with Sonic DigitalMedia Home v.7. I create a video DVD. Again, it completes correctly. When I play the DVD though, it starts playing, but at some point through the video, it stops reading the disc and freezes up. I have tried creating the discs with other freeware DVD burning software and get the same results. The drive does not seem to have any problems burning discs that contain other file tyoes such as jpeg or mp3, just video files. I checked the drivers and they seem to be up to date. I called Dell, but without much luck (or help). I am running Windpows XP with SP2. Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks in advance!! |

I believe the dvd player that you are trying to play it on does not support the certain type of video files you put on the dvd. Check and see what video types it supports and then write those type of video files to the dvd and then try to play them and see if that works.

Yes I know I am trying to tell you that your dvd drive only supports certain video types. If you try to play it and your dvd won't play it then your dvd drive does not support it. But if you would of put the video files on a regular cd and pluged it in it will work just fine to play it on your computer. I would recommend you use a regular cd to but your video files on. To put more video files on there do not create a video cd create a data disk because the cd only allows so many minutes to be put on it. So creating a data cd will allow more to be put on the cd because the size is bigger than the minutes.
