Slow HD Fast RAM?

Can fast RAM make up for an average HD when rendering game textures?

My HD isn't the best, but if I got 6GB of 2000Mhz RAM, would that help make up for the HD?

My disk in Resource Monitor is always 100% highest active time when gaming and my computer uses more than half of the page file physical memory which is set at 7000 MB.

Games are always stuttering and I get a lot of issues when I start recording with Fraps.

Re: Slow HD Fast RAM?

Neither will have any impact at all. Textures are rendered by the graphics card. You have to expect the computer to slow down when using FRAPs, even with an i7 recording and encoding video still takes a lot of CPU muscle.

Your page file has nothing to do with how fast your hard drive is. If you have a high page file it means that you have a lot of programs running in the background. This could be contributing to FRAPs being slow. Go to Start>>search>>"msconfig" and go to startup and disable everything that you don't absolutely *need* to run when you start up your computer. Then go into services, check "hide all microsoft services" and take a screenshot for me so I can tell you what you can safely disable.

Re: Slow HD Fast RAM?

Well I already optimized Vista for best performance, disabled all services not necessary, all startup programs except for nVidia display drivers.

Fraps aside, I still get a lot of stutter and lag.

Re: Slow HD Fast RAM?

What do you mean by stutter and lag? In which games? The GTS250 is an upper-mid-range card, so if you're trying to run new releases at their highest settings on a large resolution that could explain bad lag and stutter.

Re: Slow HD Fast RAM?

....
I don't understand the point of the My System drop down feature on these forums if everyone asks for your specs regardless.
