Re: RAM PSU newbie idiot help required

We need a budget to work with.

By the way, "C2Q" means "Core 2 Quad" which is just for Intel's brand.
Intel: Core 2 Quad, Core i5, Core i7
AMD: Phenom X4, Athlon II x4, Phenom II x4

AMD has better bang for the buck, but their CPU's can't match Intel's high-end processors, the Phenom II x4 line falling in with upper-mid-range Core 2 Quads, falling short of Core i5 and i7.

Re: RAM PSU newbie idiot help required

This might be a good place to start:
Want to Build A New Intel or AMD Computer? Here are 6 suggested models with Spec

The $800 build there would be an excellent starting point. I don't know any Indian retailers, so you'll have to shop around. But you could write down a parts list and see what you can find. Don't buy without checking back in with us to confirm it will be compatible and stable.

But you say it's for mathematical computing? Here's a rough parts "guesstimate":

CPU: Core i5 750
Motherboard: Asus P7P55D LGA1156 motherboard
RAM: 4-8GB DDR3 1333/1600
Graphics: Radeon HD 4350 or 3450
Power supply: Any quality 450W+ unit. Quality brands: Corsair, SeaSonic, PC Power and Cooling, Thermaltake Toughpower, CoolerMaster Real Power Pro, OCZ, Antec
Hard drive: Western Digital 500GB
