Combining RAM

Hope this isn't a 'duuhh' question but I've just added RAM to my 3 year old Dell Dimension 5150. I removed the two 512 Mb modules which came with the machine and replaced them with two 1 Gb modules. The reboot was fine, everything appears to be running well.

I'm now wondering if I could add the two original 512 Mb modules to the new ones to bring it up to 3 GB RAM or is this a recipe for disaster?

If this has been answered previously I'd really appreciate a pointer in the right direction.

Mixing RAM brands/speeds is not advisable and filling all the RAM slots on a Mobo can cause Voltage issues..
