will this psu run my pc ?

I'm not going to in the very long story that led me to where i am. But as of right now i have a pc with no power supply. I have a 1000w tuniq psu that i could install in this pc. So i was wondering if this should work and power my pc or i shouldnt risk it and get a 1200watt.

My specs are as follows
-Core i7 3.6ghz
-10 gigs fo ddr3 ram
-Gtx 295
-Lightscribe dvd burner
-blu ray burner
-7.1 sound card
-Wireless ethrenet card
-Two 1 tb hard drives
-liquid cooling system for the cpu.
I think thats it....there the fan in the back fan in the front and one on the side.

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

1000 will run it just fine, I think :) but 1200 can run almost anything.

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

Tuniq is reviewed as being a good PSU but I would prefer a known quality PSU.

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

the tuniq ripper will work okay chuck (corsair's calculator suggests their own 650w models are plenty big enough), so have fun.

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

Well what happened is this pc came with this apower power supply...ive never heard of that brand. The person i got the pc from claims it was a 1000w psu...but i looked it up online and this company doesnt seem to make a 1000w psu. That one blew out. He gave me another that he claimed was a 1200w and it burnt out...and i dont see how thats possible.

The problem is he picks the label off the psu's and claims that he has to do this in order to ship...i've never heard such a thing. Its sketchy i know....Honestly i dont think either where the wattage he said. The max wattage i see this company makes is a 900w which is an apower ak series....on the label of the latest psu he sent me it says that. So i think it was a 900w. But i mean who knows because the wattage was pealed off. Like i said i have the tuniq 1000w but idk if i wana risk it. He said hes gunna send me another but he hasnt emailed me since and never responds to emails till like days later. I'm basically out of a pc atm so idk if i should try the tuniq for now...

Thoughts ???

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

Go for it, the 1000 watt Tuniq is bronze certified and should be fine for your present needs.

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

If you can confirm the make and model of the power supply, the Tuniq will be fine, but, at this point, I wouldn't put my trust in anything this character sent me. As far as warranty goes, I suspect no manufacturer would honor it if the labelling has been stripped off.

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

Do you have the auxiliary power connected both 6 and 8 pin to the video card?

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

Do you have access to a digital voltmeter? Test your power supply with a multi meter

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

ummm i might id have to check. But this psu was in another computer and ran fine....i even took out the sound card, wirless card and i took on the gtx 295 and put an 8600 which requires no power. Pc powers up but no picture and lights on keyboard/mouse doesnt show up...

Im kind of thinking the mobo might have died from the psu blowing out twice....

Re: will this psu run my pc ?

It's very possible it is the motherboard, testing with the is a way to find out.
