Re: Computer will not boot

the dell model number would have been sufficient.

which model dell is the new graphics card in?

I suspect that because it is a dell (generally have low quality power supplies) that the power supply has had it because of the new graphics cards power requirements.

your best bet is to borrow a power supply that works and one that is sufficient to run that graphics card or use a multimeter on the power supply to see if it is ouputting the correct voltages.

Re: Computer will not boot

you need to borrow a power supply and use that to see if it will boot and if it does you need to buy a new power supply

or try putting the old graphics card in and see if it boots.

When power supplies are put under strain they can last for a long time until one day they decide they've had enough and don't work anymore.

Re: Computer will not boot

to check the power supply (thats the thing that the cord goes into from the wall socket) you will have to get a digital multimeter to test wether it is putting out the correct voltages.

But since it sounds like your very inexperience I would recommend borrowing one of someone to replace the one you have before buying a new one.

The power supply will have cables coming out of it which go into the motherrboard and other equipment.
