Replacing PSU question

I was taking some pictures before replacing my power supply to make sure I have everything connected when I noticed something odd. (Note I didn't build the computer and the person who did I'm no longer in contact with)

This small green/white wire leading to the front panel of the case here. It looks like it was glued on or something and I'm unable to detach it.

If I had to guess it would power the blue power button light which I could live without.

I know it sounds barbaric but would it be ok to cut this in order to remove the old psu and kill the front light? Not really sure what to do since this is my first psu replacement and I cant get in touch with the guy .

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Replacing PSU question

First I would trace the wire to see precisely what it powers. The Power light is generally a small 2 wire header but the wires are green & white.
It might be to power a front case light?
Unless you can see some kind of adhesive on the plug I would guess it's a just a real tight fir. Cutting it won't hurt anything.

Re: Replacing PSU question

you wont be able to dettach it from the button without a lot of fiddling but you will be able to dettach the rest of it so you can move it out of the way when working inside the pc

Re: Replacing PSU question

I think I'll just cut it since I'm not that fond of the light anyway.
