computer shuts off..then beeps..occasionally

Hey guys, thanks in advance..
Past few months..noticed first while playing Americas Army..computer would just shut off and beep until i hit button to turn beep off...then I would reboot and it would come up fine. Sometimes it would try to start fans would come on but would just shut off after 3 seconds..then sometimes it would boot all way up..sometimes it would boot til almost displayingn welcome screen then shut off too..then when it does finally boot up it could work for days, just surfing internet, etc...(no gaming)
I guess does it sound like power supply going bad or maybe video card? I have a radeon x1950 pro AGP card...my power supply is I think 350 or 400 watt...but it worked for years without problems....with x1950....
also...other day i checked compacitors..they all look good..all flat..i reapplied heat sink thermal paste...to make sure it wasn't being shut off cause of temps....cpu is running at 50-55 Celcius...but it's done that for years..AMD
was on google earth other day..and it shut down and beeped while runningn that too...sorry if too much info...just trying to give u guys symptoms..

Re: computer shuts off..then beeps..occasionally

Please list the temps and voltages from the bios if that is not where you got them from. 50c to 55c is way too hot for at-rest if that is what you are saying.

Then, tell us the brand name and wattage of your power supply (would be on the side of it when you open the case) that you are using.

The bios temps are showing way much too hot for your rig. Are you certain you have the legs of that CPU/Heatsink clear down tightly. If you grasp it with your fingers (with computer off and unplugged), can you wiggle it any? The other thing that comes to mind is that you didn't apply the thermal paste properly or clean off the old properly.

Applying Artic Silver Thermal Paste

Also, tell us what motherboard you have.

Re: computer shuts off..then beeps..occasionally

A "purchased years ago " Ultra PSU could also be a contributing factor.

Re: computer shuts off..then beeps..occasionally

Sure sounds like a thermal paste issue to me.
