Power Sparked when plugged back in?

I took an old computer apart, just to reassemble it and after removing all the components and hooking them back up, I plugged the computer back in and it sparked at the power supply. I am not to concerned about the computer, because I am sure the PSU is fried, and I never user it but what could of caused this? Would it be the wires plugged into the wrong components, or could it be Electrostatic Discharge from when I was taken it apart?

Also what do the numbers represent on the power supply wires P4 P5 P6 ect..

Thanks in advance.

Re: Power Sparked when plugged back in?

Most likely the PSU just expired. Low quality PSU's tend to take other hardware (Mobo/CPU) with them but quality PSU's usually don't.

I could go for that but the computer worked just fine, before I decided to take it apart.

Any hardware can fail at any time although there is a possibility you you contributed to it's failure.
Brand & Model of the PSU?
Did you inadvertently move the 120/240V switch on the rear to the improper setting?
How far did you disassemble the PC? Did you remove the Mobo?

PSU Brand -Bestec, Model- Atx100-5
No the switch was still at 115v.
I took the whole PC apart, motherboard and all and then put everything back together.
