Cooling for memory?

Hi all, I have a fairly simple question.

I'm building a new water cooled i7 computer. I need to know if I need to get cooling for my memory.

I'll probably be doing some overclocking, but I was wondering, since the computer will have less fans, due to the watercooling, if the memory would need something to help cool it down.

Thanks

Re: Cooling for memory?

The only RAM coolers I've seen are pretty much eye candy. All the high performance RAM comes with heat spreaders.

Re: Cooling for memory?

I'm just worried that, you know, normally the memory has a bunch of fans operating around them. Yet, if I'm going for a water cooled computer, with less fans, they might have the chance to overheat.

Re: Cooling for memory?

why would you have less fans

the inside of the case still needs good air circulation from front to rear even with water cooling

Re: Cooling for memory?

I'm trying to build a quieter computer. My current one has six fans, and it's quite loud. I was hoping that if I watercooled the cpu, gpu, etc, that I would need less fans.

Re: Cooling for memory?

Many water cooled systems are noisier than some air cooled.
Try unplugging the fans and watch your temps. if the the temps rise to an uncomfortable level reconnect the fans one at a time.
Larger fans are generally quieter than small fans.
