PC Will not turn on
Hi there thanks for taking the time to read this thread.
My issue is that my computer will not turn on despite many failed attempts and methods to fix it. This problem arised yesterday but after switching from different plugs and many attempts to turn it on it turned on fine and continued working fine for the rest of the day. Today it happened again and I have tried many things to get it to turn on and have failed. There is a green light inside the motherboard but when I hit the power switch nothing happens at all. I contacted the company which I purchased the computer from and they have said it might be the power supply but from the sound of the person I was speaking to she was not very knowledgable of computers. What can the problem be if it is not the power supply? thank you Younan |

Re: PC Will not turn on
What is the brand and model of the computer?
A dead power supply is the most common cause of something like this. I would check the platform connectors on the motherboard to make sure the power switch is connected securely: http://www.hardwarezone.com/img/data...p_power_sw.jpg Alternatively you can try to start the computer while bypassing the power switch by using a screwdriver to short the two power switch pins. If it still doesn't start then the most likely thing by far is the power supply, next most likely would be a busted motherboard. |
