New psu!!!

Hi there, i was thinking of buying a new PSU after my old one died (Raidmax 500w = very poor psu) and i can't make up my mind on what to buy. I was thinking about Xilence XP480 480W or Rasurbo Silent Power 430W, i don't dispose of a lot of money so that's why i can't buy a Corsair or Seasonic PSU. Are either one of the two PSU's i mentioned any good for my configuration?

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8 on a Gigabyte EP31-DS3L mobo, 2x2GB Corsair XMS2, western digital WD1600 160 IDE HDD, palit nvidia geforce 7300GT sonic (in the future maybe a 9600GT). i'm only using 2 sys fans, one with LED one simple and 1 DVD-RW ASUS.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated, and please don't tell me to buy a corsair or seasonic or other expensive psu's couse i don't have that money.

Thank you!

Re: New psu!!!

If you buy a low end PSU, you'll be throwing away more money than you'll be saving.

Re: New psu!!!

A cheap power supply costs more in the long term. Especially ones that cost less than half of what you would pay for a decent unit from Corsair or SeaSonic, as that's in the range where if the PSU fails (which is likely, due to shoddy parts and inflated power ratings) it takes out the rest of the computer because it has no/insufficient over/under voltage protection/over current protection/over power protection. Meaning your system is fried. Gone. Motherboard, CPU, RAM, graphics card, hard drive, everything.

Racom, Raidmax, Xilence, Rasurbo, they are all equally garbage. Don't waste your money.

You seem to know that you need a good PSU and the ones you have requested not to be suggested are the best.
Good PSU's don't come in "cheap".

Re: New psu!!!

We only recommend the brands and models listed in the power supply sticky because they are the ones we have found to be reliable the best bang fro the buck right now is the corsair and seasonic line up, are there other PSU's out there that may work, probably but but we review the selections often and for one reason or another will not recommend them.

The only Thermaltake model we recommend is the Tough Power model the rest are not nearly as well built and have less warranty.
