Enermax Liberty 620w Problem

After 3 years my Enermax Liberty 620w has started buzzing somewhere inside. It doesn't seem to be the fan bearings because I've stopped the fan and it still buzzes. It was coming on and off more and more frequently for a few days, now it seems to be getting louder and more worrying.

A - What could the cause be
B - Is it possible to fix the PSU without replacing
C - Whats a good replacement

To buy another Enermax it's about £75 minimum but I wondered if there are any newer ones on the market for cheaper that would do the job as I'm not very clued up with my hardware.

I'm running roughly...

4GB DDR2, Duel core processor, Can't remember the motherboard (Asus Rock I think), ATI Radeon 9500XT etc.

Any suggestions, thanks in advance...if I don't blow up

The normal warranty of most power supplies (except the top-of-the-line ones which are five years) is three years. That is about the life expectency of them, so I think it is just getting ready to die.

B - Is it possible to fix the PSU without replacing

I would never recommend someone who is not very experienced in computer repair to try to repair a power supply. Even if you are very experienced, the cost and time to do that repair and the limited life span left would be not cost efficient.

C - Whats a good replacement

Any of the following are good brand names for replacement and most are cost effective:

Seasonic – Any Model
Corsair – Any Model
PC Power & Cooling – Any Model
Thermaltake – “Toughpower” Series Only
Coolermaster – “Real Power Pro” Series Only

Is there a minimum wattage/power I would need?

Re: Enermax Liberty 620w Problem

My recommendation would be a minimum of a 650 watt power supply for you. Take a look at this specific one:
