My charger for my laptop won't work?

My charger for my ASUS Eee PC won't work. It keeps making chirping sounds and the blue light won't turn on. Maybe because it was overheating? Then today, it started working, only for a few minutes though, and my laptop quickly shut down by itself and the charger started making chirping noises again.
I really need help! Thanks for your cooperation.

I would not try using it anymore. It may damage the battery. Contact Asus about a replacement charger.
