Parallel PSU's

Hi there,

I was wondering if it would by possible to put 2 PSU's of the same wattage and make in a parallel configuration to get some more wattage for my peripherals.

This got into my mind just a half an hour, so i've been searching just a little bit on the internet, and could find a real "Yes" or "No".

The idea came into my mind after trying to over clock a PowerMac G3 from originally 350Mhz to 450Mhz, and it didn't boot power up, until i disconnected the HD(so didn't boot anyway, but i gave something on the screen at least) and a fan, so i found out the 200W PSU was insufficient, and since i never have a good PSU at hand, this idea came to life.

If nobody knows, I'm just gonna try with some old 200W PSU's, and post the result here. ;) But they wil definitely not be of the same model...:P

Thnx in adv.

Re: Parallel PSU's

Not impossible but certainly not advisable. Use one good quality PSU that is capable of supplying your hardware with clean sufficient power.

Re: Parallel PSU's

Agreed not a good idea and usually leads to problems, the voltage control circuits can not control each others voltages so one usually ends up trying to lower or raise the voltage and can't so the other one gets all the load.
