Dual Channel Setup

This is for a Asus M4A785-M
I want to install 2 Pair Corsair into the motherboard. It has 4 slots 2Blue 2Black. A1_B1 are Blue, A2_B2 are black. Now Asus states Channel A is dimm A1 blue and dimm A2 black is this right for dual channel? You would think they would go in The same color slots but thats not the way it says to do it. kind of confusing?

Re: Dual Channel Setup

First, filling all 4 RAM slots on a Mobo is not advised as that can cause Voltage issues.
4GB of RAM is all you need.
I'm not familiar with that Mobo and I understand your confusion.
Normally, A1 & A2 would be the Dual Channel configuration but normally the slot colors are not the same in that configuration.
If no one else has a positive answer, I would suggest contacting Asus.

Re: Dual Channel Setup

do it the way the mobo manual says.

Normally with asus mobos it will actually say during POST when dual chanel mode is active.

It way say something alomng the lines of 4GB DDR2-1066MHz dual channel mode

or 4GB DDR2-1066 with my asus mobo it is the tow blue slots in my last asus mobo it was the two blackslots. You wont damage the motherboard by having it in single channel mode or dual channel so why not swap dimms and reboot untill you find the correct combination?

Re: Dual Channel Setup

OK thanks as long as I dont heart anything I guess I will swap out till I figure it out. I might try to ask Asus but you know how that goes. I will figure it out and I will reply here so others can see how it goes.
