[SOLVED] Computer Freezing Error!
Hello i have recently upgraded my computer from amd to intel and i keeps freezing on me.
Whats strange is that i did a freash install and when it first booted up with the retarded resolution it froze within 10 seconds of it starting up. what also is strange is that it not only does it completely freeze it also cuts power to the mouse and keyboard. i throught it could be a cooling problem but its all running at the correct temp. please help me im at witts end. I have done all the appropreate things to reformat my computer and put the correct chipset drivers and such on. I put my new Mobo/cpu in and a new GFX card installed the correct and most upto date drivers i could find. System Specs are: Intel Core2 Duo E4500 @ 2.20GHz, 2.0GB Ram, Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 512mb. XP Pro SP3. Last edited by dai; 09-29-2009 at 06:27 AM. |

Re: Computer Freezing Error!
what motherboard does it have installed? what is the power supply size in wattage and brand? is the power supply new or old if old how old? do you have integrated video on the motherboard too? did you go into Bios and disable the onboard video if you have a separate Video card installed?
will it boot into Safe Mode without freezing,,? |

Re: Computer Freezing Error!
In addition to the much needed information as requested, see if you can enter the bios and check temps and voltages.

Re: Computer Freezing Error!
What make/model and total watts is your new PSU? If you've taken it from another computer, how old is it?
When you were upgrading, did you attach all the standoffs between the motherboard and case? Have you tried removing, cleaning and reseating all cards and connectors? Have you looked under the motherboard for any screws that could be causing it to short?

Re: Computer Freezing Error!
next try removing one stick of Ram and see if it continues to freeze if it still does freeze then remove the other stick and reinstall the first retest to see if freezing is gone another possible cause could be bad RAM and you might want to run MEMtest86 do a google search for this and follow directions to run the memory test. just as simple to remove one at a time and test system. lastly if all the above fails it could be a faulty video card. how old is the card...? the suggestion to get a good quality 500 watt or larger power supply is still a good one too. poor power quality can make a system throw all kinds of weird behavior on you...
