PSU Replacement help

I am new here and a novice so any help is greatly appreciated in advance.

From reading other posts in this forum I have self diagnosed they I need a new PSU for my computer( there is nothing happening at all when I plug the computer in no noise,lights, nothing.) The current PSU is a FSP300-60THA. Can someone please recommend a cheap alternative replacement ? The operating system is Xp and the computer is an Acer if that makes a difference. Also how difficult is it to swap a PSU seems like pulling and matching the pins pulled

never buy a cheap psu otherwise you might aswell throw your computer out of the window.

what graphics card are you running?

you should never skimp on a power supply as a cheapone can take the rest of the components with it when it fails. You should look at a corsair tx550

Thanks . Not sure what graphics card, the computer is a media edition. did a quick search for corsair tx 550 only found vx 550 is that the same?

Last question would this PSU be what you consider to cheap?
hec HP585D RETAIL 585W ATX12V Power Supply.

yes and bad too.

The best power supplies are: Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power & cooling and Thermaltake (toughpower units only).

What people don't seem to realise is that a psu may say it is 500w but if is a bad brand then really it could only be churning out 400w and occasionally 500w you need one that has a constant good output. which the ones I have listed will give you.

Generally when it comes to power supplies the more you pay the better it will be.
