Question about different ATX power supplies.
My motherboard, a Biostar p4m800-M7, calls for an ATX power supply. Does that mean I can not use another variation of the ATX standard, such as ATX12V, etc?
I'm new to this so please forgive me if that is a dumb question. I read the sticky on selecting power supplies but didn't see the different ATX types mentioned. Might have missed it though. Thanks |

There's only one type of ATX. ATX12V is just the type of secondary motherboard power connector that is required. It's also called the 4-pin motherboard connector. Some boards instead have the EPS12V (8-pin) connector. Most mid-range and higher PSUs have an 8-pin connector that breaks apart into two 4-pin connectors.
