Power Jack issue
Hi folks,
![]() Hope I have the right forum for this question: My son has a Gateway laptop model ML6714. He has been told he has a power jack problem from two different places. Both places have also told him they would have to send it off and the cost would be right at $200.00. Is this something that is pretty much outside the ability of the average do-it-yourselfer and requires special knowledge and/or tools? If you need some more information please let me know. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Power Jack issue
If you feel comfortable opening the laptop, you could probably install the jack yourself if you acquire the jack.
A soldering iron would be required.

Re: Power Jack issue
Thanks Tyree,
Since it's either that or probably get a new one I guess there's no real harm in trying. I have a brother-in-law that is a whiz with a soldering iron so I can get him to help with that part. You answered my main question though. I appreciate it. |
