PSU Upgrade on HP

I currently have a desktop with the following specs:

HP m7750n, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+, 2.60 GHz, 3 Gb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

I've only updated the extra 1Gb of RAM and added the NVIDIA card. It's slowed down a lot since I've installed the video card and even the previous video card I installed. I'm wondering if upgrading my current PSU would help boost performance at all. It's currently got a 300W PSU I believe. It's in some dire need of cleaning as well so I think that may have something to do with it as well. Any suggestions?

Re: PSU Upgrade on HP

A higher wattage quality PSU is certainly needed. Get a quality PSU and if the performance doesn't pick up you can look for a resolution.

Re: PSU Upgrade on HP

Is there anything particular i need to look for? Is any wattage ok? I don't want to fry anything by getting a PSU that's too big

Re: PSU Upgrade on HP

You can't overpower. 400W is the minimum requirement for the 8800GT.
The CORSAIR 650TX is a very good deal at $99.99 w/free shipping.
