Novice Ram question

I have two PC's, one has DDR2 Ram and the Other DDR. With my computer that has DDR ram could I upgrade and use DDR2? Will it work?

Re: Novice Ram question

Almost all motherboards will only take one type of ram, there are a very few that can use more than one type. What computer do you have if prebuilt or what motherboard if custom built?

Re: Novice Ram question

I am really not sure.. My father is a police officer and I'm majoring in software engineer once I finish my last year in high school but some guy that works for the police department system manager built my PC for me and at a low price around like 300 but I use it for mostly gaming but all I know it's an AMD Sempron socket AM2 940 I believe.. if you could think of what mother board it may be then you can let me know but my other board is currently running Kingston DDR2 ram and my friend says he uses DDR3 Ram.. could I upgrade now to DDR3.. I don't think my mother board except it because it's about 2 years old now.

Re: Novice Ram question

AM2 or 940 pin socket motherboards will not accept DDR3 ram.
