PSU buzzing

Hey people, I bought a Coolermaster UCP 900W PSU (which only arrived yesterday) and hooked it up to my system, got everything up and running but It is very noticeable that the PSU is making a 'buzzing' sound, its not the fan I'm sure of that, and if I listen to the back of the PSU (where the power cable connects) I can hear the buzzing sound clearly its like an electronic sound similar to if the fan kept catching on something as it spun...

No idea what it is...should I RMA it as DOA or what?

Thanks!

Re: PSU buzzing

Send it back because most likely it will always be annoying and it should not do that.

Re: PSU buzzing

See if you can exchange it for this because it is cheaper and a much better supply IMHO:

Another great one at a good price and modular:

Re: PSU buzzing

I can send it back to get a refund/exchange it, all reviews I read and personal opinions for the Coolermaster UCP 900 seem posative, any reason you dont reccomend it?...so you recommend exchanging it for this PSU? Just my luck something fails on my first build

I presume this will be okay for an Antec 902 case/GTX 275 etc..

Re: PSU buzzing

The one you have listed is an excellent power supply (one of the best) for a demanding computer. The only Coolermaster units the hardware team recommends at this time are the high quality "Real Power Pro" series. That is not to say that the one you selected won't do the job for you, but we look at all internal components and other factors when we recommend a supply.

The Corsair is normally quieter than the Coolermaster model you have selected. In addition, it has a 5 year warranty which is the best you can get in this field. IMHO, it is just a better supply all around.

I've been having trouble with my computer losing power and I have a Cooler Master PSU fan not working. I was looking at a lot of reviews and complaints about the fan and I remember reading something about a noise issue that turned out to be a sticker near or under the fan that was causing a buzzing sound.

Regardless, it does seem that the cheaper Cooler Master tend to have lots of fan problems so I'd replace it anyway.

Yeah...well it only got it Friday, so luckily its covered by the stores warranty still, should be simple enough to RMA, suppose ill get a refund as opposed to replacement and purchase the Corsair 850W PSU instead...
