Could anyone tell me what fits and works in my computer

i have some details

* Maximum Memory Capacity: 8192MB
* Currently Installed Memory: 1GB
* Available Memory Slots: 0
* Total Memory Slots: 2
* Dual Channel Support: Yes
* CPU Manufacturer: AuthenticAMD
* CPU Family: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+ Model 15, Stepping 2
* CPU Speed: 984 MHz
* Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

Q: Will my system recognize the maximum upgrade?

A: Possibly

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. ive been looking on http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.filereader?...ogs/CTG0002553 for Ram and believe that http://www.dse.co.nz/dse.shop/4a8e2e...ct/View/XH9713 will work correctly am i right so can i safely buy it? also should i bother with an anti static strap?

hi there, if you've done a scan on crucial and it says 'DDR2 memory with support for DDR2 PC2-6400,DDR2 PC2-5300 speeds' then yes the RAM you have linked will work

Althought I would not buy it as your better off going with the more popular brands such as Crucial, Kingston etc..
Anyway for 5 extra dollars I've found a good deal on Corsair 2GB XMS2 RAM

I don't know the website as it's NZ based but the prices and stock seem decent

Use the crucial scanner to detect which RAM you need.

You do not have to install the MAX speed it shows.

As you have 1 gig installed already I would remove that gig and place in 2x2 gig sticks of same speed and make and model of RAM.

I personaly do not like to mix RAM,speeds etc on a newer computer.

If you are running a 32 bit OS them why add more than 4 gig as the OS would not utilise it.

I would agree to go for a better brand and heatsink RAM such as Kingston,Crucial,OCZ.

Adding more RAM/Memory wil increase performance,speed etc.
