Voltage Question
SensorsView is detecting low values for 2 of the voltage readings, and I'm wondering if this can cause problems of some sort: (I've been having freezeup issues, particularly in 3D games)
+3.3V shows 2.00V consistently +12V shows 10.10V consistently Is this an issue? |

Re: Voltage Question
Hmm, interesting. The BIOS shows operation within acceptable parameters. Both SensorsView and Everest show the voltages I posted above.

Re: Voltage Question
Not unusual some motherboards don't play nice with sensor reading programs, if it was actually 10v it would not be running.
What are you running for Motherboard, CPU, Video card and Power Supply? |

Re: Voltage Question
I am running an Acer Aspire X3200. AMD Phenom 8400 Triple Core Processor, 2.2GHz; 4GB RAM; Onboard NVIDIA GeForce 8200 video card. The power supply is 220w, standard for this system. I have been playing World of Warcraft for almost a full year on it with no issues and now all of the sudden it is intermittently and sporadically freezing during gameplay (the entire computer doesn't freeze, just that particular window, the rest of the OS is responsive if World of Warcraft is running in windowed mode) and I can't nail down exactly what the problem is.

Re: Voltage Question
I checked it during a freeze, SensorsView shows CPU: 15 celsius; SYS: 53 celsius. Also, until World of Warcraft "unfroze", the page to post this reply would not load (I had clicked Post Reply during the freeze, and internet explorer said Waiting for (url).. and just sat there like that until it unfroze).
Don't know if that last bit of information is helpful but it certainly can't hurt. EDIT: MCP in Everest shows 93 celsius. EDIT2: Here's the entire readout in Everest: Temperatures CPU 15 °C (59 °F) CPU #1 / Core #1 38 °C (100 °F) CPU #1 / Core #2 38 °C (100 °F) CPU #1 / Core #3 38 °C (100 °F) MCP 94 °C (201 °F) Aux 53 °C (127 °F) GPU Diode 86 °C (187 °F) Voltage Values CPU Core 1.65 V +2.5 V 2.48 V +3.3 V 2.02 V +5 V 5.00 V +12 V 10.11 V +5 V Standby 4.97 V VBAT Battery 3.10 V Also more information: It seems that whatever program is in focus is the one that freezes intermittently; Internet Explorer just froze temporarily with WoW in the background and when I brought WoW back up it was still responsive. Re: Voltage Question
The MCP (Motherboard chipset) temp is way too high.
The MCP should have a heat sink on it on the motherboard and may have a fan that's no longer working it is also the onboard video. I'm not sure what motherboard in it Acer is pain to find that info on so you may have to look around the board to see if there is a model printed on it. |

Re: Voltage Question
This is a typical Geforce board the arrow points to the MCP heat sink have a look at yours to make sure it is tight to the MCP Chip and not covered with dust bunnies.
Do you have any warranty left on the PC? |

Re: Voltage Question
The heatsink is completely free of dust, it has 2 little pushable pins on it, on the top left and bottom right corners, I'm assuming this is how it secures to the board. It is a little wiggly also. I do have warranty left but unfortunately the case has been opened and the "Warranty Void' sticker has been broken.

Re: Voltage Question
I would still make the phone call and see what they say, most likely the thermal paste under the heat sink needs to be redone, but it could also be the MCP chip going bad.

Re: Voltage Question
Funny you should say that. Apparently moving the heatsink around sufficiently redistributed the thermal compound or better secured it to the MCP or something, because ever since I did that the temperature has remained around 50 and the freezes have stopped.

Re: Voltage Question
I think Tyree means attach the fan to the heat sink on the chip with super glue not the chip itself?
What you is some thermal adhesive to reattach the heat sink to the chip. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835100013 Last edited by wrench97; 08-22-2009 at 04:00 PM. |

Hi! I had problems with my temps to, CPU was 5-66 degree MB 0-55,but voltage was good. At the end I bought another Motherboard and now work just fine.
