Laptop Ram problem
I'm having a very similar problem. Upgraded my RAM from 2x512MB to 2GB+512 MB. Since then, I can't run the laptop without it rebooting suddenly if there's no AC on. Took it into two separate techs, both confirmed the fan is running, and the vents are clean. I have a cooling pad, which helps a little, but not much.
SpeedFan tells me the processor temp is around 50C, which is apparently normal. My old RAM chip and tools were in my desk at work, so I'll play around with swapping the chips around when I get home (A at work), and see if that fixes the problem. Hopefully one of us figures out what's going wrong. |

Re: Computer overheats after RAM install
@Qazzian
Starting your own thread would have been a better way to receive help. Posting your Brand & Model Number of the laptop would prove useful. Is the 2GB a single stick....is it the same brand and speed as the 512 stick? Mixing RAM can cause issues. Remove the 512 stick.

Re: Laptop Ram problem
I had put this in the other thread since I was going to try and figure out the problem and offer suggestions, but I see your point.
The laptop is a Fujitsu Lifebook A6025. Original RAM configuration was 2x512MB, I took out one stick and replaced it with a Kingston 2GB stick (should be compatible with the laptop I have). I have swapped back to 2x512MB yesterday, and haven't had a problem. I also haven't run the laptop without AC since, so I'm not sure if it's fixed it. If this works for a few days, I'll swap to just the 2GB stick (I'd prefer more RAM to less). |
