[SOLVED] 99% memory usage

GPU: GTX 280
RAM: Corsair XMS 3 1600Mhz (3 x 2GB)
CPU: Core i7 920 overclocked to 3.36
PSU: cooler master pro 1000w
mobo: Evga X58 sli le
First off, I am unsure if this is a RAM issue or if it is just the software I was using. So I mounted an iso image with power iso so I could encode it with nero. I wanted to do this so that I could watch the movie without having to mount it on power iso. when I mounted the image and started to encode it with nero, my physical memory usage jumped to 99% and never went down, even after the encoding. I also ended the power iso process to see if that was the problem. In the end I had to shutdown my computer by holding down the power button. Right now my computer is running fine and the issue has not re-occurred.
I am wondering if it was the encoding that caused the issue or if I should do a memtest on my RAM for safety. I know this question seems self explanatory but I would like some feedback.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: 99% memory usage

From your description, I would have to assume the encoding was the problem.
Encoding does use a lot of resources.

Re: 99% memory usage

Ok that sounds reasonable. Would that cause the memory to never be returned though? the physical memory usage stayed at 99% even after the encoding was done and over with. Could it just have been an error in the software?

Could it have been a hard drive issue? I was defragging today and a chkdsk was advised. I am doing this right now on my desktop to try to fix the issue.

Sorry for the many questions but it seems that it could have been a number of things. I would suspect that the hard drive issue did not cause the problem but I have seen weirder things happen.
Thanks for the reply.
