I'm not sure if this is a RAM issue or a video card one but I just put it in here. I don't have a problem with anything until I go to restart my computer, I get no display and the computer does one long beep, and two short beeps. I have to manually press the power button to turn it off and back on, that is my restarting procedures now, heh.
I have a 9800 GT, and one 1GB stick and one 512mb stick of DDR RAM in at the moment. I've taken it apart, reseated the video card, thought maybe that was a problem, I have a modular PSU so I found a cable that went straight from the PSU to the PCI-e power on my video card. Also I've tried taking either of the two RAM sticks out at a time, moving them to different ports. I've even vaccumed and dusted the hell out of it trying to get it to work. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. |

Re: Possible RAM problem - 3 Beeps
3 beeps is the standard code for RAM problems for AMI Bios.
Try using one stick of RAM at a time. Are both RAM sticks the ane brand and speed?

Re: Possible RAM problem - 3 Beeps
I've tried one stick at a time in each of the slots, no joy.
Yes, they're the same speed and brand, i've had these sticks of RAM for a couple years now. Recently (3 Months or so) my computer has started doing this. I'm kind of stumped as to why having just one of the sticks in, either stick wouldn't fix the problem. Everything works fine, just cannot restart my computer. |
