[SOLVED] Ram compatbility for Laptop
Hi all!
I have an Acer travelmate 4150 laptop and it takes PC4200 DDR 400 C3 SO-Dimm RAM. I have a friend who is selling me the Ram out his broken Laptop(he trod on it breaking the screen, never put laptops on the floor! lol!) They are 1 gb PC4200 but they are 533mhz as opposed to 400mhz? Would they still work on my laptop? Thanks! |

Re: Ram compatbility for Laptop
What brand and model is his laptop?
Yours should be DDR2 PC4200 533Mhz. DDR 3200 is 400Mhz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PC4200 |

Re: Ram compatbility for Laptop
Hi!
I don't have his laptop model\number on hand. I know for a fact it says on the sticker of the RAM i'm using at the moment it says PC2 4200s and i was told it was 400mhz but i'm beginning to think that person was wrong as there is nothing on the chip about mhz or DDR so i'd say my RAM i'm using is 533mhz so i won't have a prob! Would i have any probs installing 2gb modules compatibility wise? Cheers! |

Re: Ram compatbility for Laptop
Hi!
I just read up on RAM specs and i've got it now! PC3200 is 400mhz(400mhzx8 bits = 3200 and 533mhzx 8 bits = 4200 so PC4200 is 533mhz! So yes 533mhz will work! Thanks for the help! |
