Ram Problems

My computer has been running fine for months, then today while playing a pretty graphical game, my monitor goes black and says check signal source like its not plugged in, but my computer is still running, all the lights on etc. I had to restart the computer by the power button. It has done this like 5 more times, each while playing a game, if it just sits there or I'm just online, it seems to be ok? I ran windows memory diagnostic test and it came up that there was a hardware problem, but crashed soon afterward, and now when I run it it comes back ok? What i a good free program to test memory, I dont have any more ram laying around to swap out. The ram isnt overclocked, everything is on auto or factory settings.

Re: Ram Problems

Hello,

Post the make/model of the PC. If this is a custom build then post the specs.

Include PSU brand and wattage.

Post the temps and voltage from the BIOS.

You can use memtest to test the memory

Re: Ram Problems

Have you cleaned the inside of the case?

Blow any dust from fans/heatsink and vents.

Make sure GPU fan cleaned of any dust.

What are the GPU temps under load.

Download GPU-Z and post temps.

Re: Ram Problems

It was very dusty, I cleaned it all out, and installed filters on all the intake fans as well. right now with the internet running and world of wwarcraft running the gpu tempo is around 66-67. Is that an ok temp?

Re: Ram Problems

Look like you just needed a good cleaning. Those GPU temps should be fine.

Re: Ram Problems

Ya, it seemed to fix it, I havent had any problems since. Thanks a bunch. The GPU temps did get up into mid seventies when i played wow for awhile, is that still ok? Should I look for an aftermarket cooler for the gpu?

Re: Ram Problems

Your temps appear to be fine while in game I don't see a need for you to have to get an

VGA Cooler if you need to you can download EVGA Precision and increase the fan to 70%
