Missing 0.5GB RAM?

Recently i bought this to replace my 2gb ram:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-144-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

Now when i replaced these BIOS shows that 4gb is available and being used, however right-clicking my computer - properties it says that it's 3.50GB RAM.

So i manually set the timings in BIOS according to the sticker on the RAM (4-4-4-15 @ 2.2V) no change still 3.5GB.

I downloaded some program called cpu-z which told me that i'm using 4GB with dual channel.

Task manager tells me my total memory (in K) is 3668396, and system cache is (in K) 559508 if that's gotta do with anything.

Is it supposed to show 3.50GB RAM? i r teh confused

specs are (roughly 2 years old):

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3ghz
nvidia 8800 GTS
Asus M2N-SLi deluxe motherboard
500gb HD
650w Antec PSU
windows XP

Re: Missing 0.5GB RAM?

Yes, with a 32 bit operating system the maximum addressable is 4GB. Windows reserves some of that, so anywhere from 2.5-3.5 or so is shown by windows itself. I think mine shows 3.25. That's normal.
