OS: Vista - 32bit

Computer being slow and programs unresponsive

I use Vista 32bit OS, and recently have been having problems, my computer boots up fine but i find as I'm playing an MMO and running FireFox it seems to take ages to alt-tab between programs and sometimes programs randomly stop responding and takes 40 seconds or so to get a response out of my computer. the picture of my task manager is when i didn't have my MMO running. it has only recently started doing this, i never had problems like this before and could normally run 2 MMO's at the same time and not have lag while doing so, as well as alt-tabbing as quick as it takes me to press the keys. it also seems to take along time to shutdown, and i often get the feeling of smashing my head on the keyboard because my computer running so "slow" here is a picture of my task manager and my resource manger and it looks worrying. - http://s885.photobucket.com/albums/a...rrent=OMGZ.png I did have steam running in this screenshot.

Things I have tried:
-disk checker (drives aren't dirty or corrupted).
-updated OS and graphics card.
-windows told me I didn't need to defrag.
-scanned for viruses and spy-ware etc.
-have checked power and temperature (have dusted).

Might just be the case of needing more RAM.

Any advice from the guru's of computers would be appreciated .
