Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

I'm having trouble getting my RAM to run at 1066Mhz, it will only run at 800Mhz because when I try at 1066Mhz the computer blue screens and restarts after Windows has loaded.

My specs are as follows;

OS:Windows XP 64-Bit
CPU: AMD II 940 3.0GHz
RAM: Corsair 4GB 1066Mhz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H
Hardrive: 160GB Sata 1.
Graphics Card: 9600gt

Thanks in advance. :D

Re: Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

Please list model number of ram. Did you change voltage setting in bios to that required for your sticks? Most mobo's default to 1.8V which is insufficient for most newer ddr2 sticks.

Re: Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

My memory; Corsair 4Gb DDR2 XMS2 xtreme performance. The 1066mhz variation.

EDIT: How would I find the exact model number?

EDIT 2: Heres the memory link: http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?W...source=froogle

Re: Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

According to your link model is TWIN2X4096-8500C5 and is rated at 2.1v. Go into bios and verify DRAM voltage is set to this.

Re: Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

1066mhz ram speeds is attained by overclocking the cpu .......... you need to do alittle research to understand the perimeters of your system speeds .......... i suggest starting a thread in the overclocking section andf reviewing the stickies in that forum

Re: Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

hello Icecubee, welcome to tsf.

please give the details of what settings you are changing in bios, or are you using the easytune5 mib2.

the 2 sticks are in the first 2 slots (DDR2_1, DDR2_2)

1066mhz ram is not an auto setting on a ddr-2 board...........it can be achieved rather easily with some tweaking

Re: Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

I changed the voltage of the Ram to 0.25V, as it came up along the side to 2.1V overall, then I tryed to set the frequency to 533 (1066mhz) and after loading Windows I got blue screen.

Re: Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

is your cpu FSB frequency "linked" with your memory speed ? >>>>> you must also use the correct ram dividers with this task !

try shooting for a tad less than 1000mhz on the ram .............like 450 x 2 = 900

the 1000mhz is really a hard target to hit and must be done usually in conjuntion with a cpu overclock

1066mhz ram really has planted the wrong impression in most buyers minds; 1066mhz memory is really nothing more than hand picked and better quality 800mhz ram ...... when overclocking a builder can hit the max of a given set of DDR2-800 ram sticks but the 1066mhz ram will keep on going ..........

bottom line is ............unless you want to do some high end overclocking your wasting your time ......

Re: Getting Ram to run at 1066Mhz

Hmm, I might give it a go. I'm a over clocking newb, never ever done it before.

So if you give me a little help, suggest what I should try doing first to aid this it will be most appreciated. By the way, I'd just like to say thanks for your time. :D
