Mobo an my new RAM?
Hello, I've only just returned home from buying a new stick of RAM
Celenade 2GB DDR2-800 http://www.hardware.info/en-UK/produ...LD2D80006456B/ I placed it into my Motherboard and my PC failed to boot. ALiveSATA2-GLAN http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.as...TA2-GLAN&s=AM2 It should be compatable shouldn't it? I don't know why it's not working and taking it back the shop would be a hassle, considering i live many miles from my nearest pc shop ![]() I should add, Currently I have 2x Vdata 512 DDR 667s, My Mobo should be able to take the 800

Re: Mobo an my new RAM?
Your motherboard will automatically down clock to run at 667mhz. RAM should either be a single module on its own or bought in a dual channel pack - if adding memory that differs in manufacturer or model then there's a very high chance it wont be compatible.
So, in escence, your issue is because you're adding more than one memory module that wasn't bought as a dual channel pack. |

Re: Mobo an my new RAM?
Thats the thing and I should of mentioned, I removed my dual sticks and replaced them with one stick, The 2GB DDR2-800.
Are you saying my motherboard is still trying to feed it 667mhz when it needs 800mhz? Do I need to enter my BIOS and give my memory more juice? I'm not very bright with PC's but have basic understanding, Please bare with me Last edited by Jimmy85; 06-29-2009 at 07:15 AM. |

Re: Mobo an my new RAM?
it depends on what voltage the ram is rated for
check it is seated properly check it is in the correct slot for a single stick

Re: Mobo an my new RAM?
According to ASRock, that Mobo "should" accept the single 2GB stick of DDR2800 RAM but there is a possibility the Mobo doesn't like that particular brand (I've never heard of it).
A matched pair of 2X1GB would have been a better choice to take advantage of Dual Chanel. You could try removing the new RAM, clear the CMOS. install the new RAM and reboot. You could also run MemTest on the new RAM.
