My CPU closes down Randomly =(

Hi,
Can some one help me ?

My CPU shuts down randomly. If I try to open it again it opens for a second and shuts down again ..... some times it opens till the boot screen appears and then shuts down .... Some times It opens completely and closes down.. some times it opens and keeps on running for hours.... recently I change my processor and it started working fine... but then it started again...It makes no sense.

Specifications
Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.4 GHz
1.00 GB RAM
HP Mother Board
Nvidea G force fx 5500 Graphic Card

Did you redo the thermal paste on the heat sink?
Socket 775 or 478?

No I did not, but I do not know what that is could you please be a little descriptive.

The thermal paste goes between the CPU and the heat sink it fills in microscopic voids in the 2 surfaces to allow heat transfer from the cpu to the heat sink.

OK .... I did the thermal paste thing Yesterday ... and it was working fine... but today it shut down again and the problem has started again ...

what PSU do you have? the wattage and the brand?

Yeah i followed the instructions.

My PSU is MIC The Best Power Model No. MT 300P
and the voltage is 115v-230v

wattage not the voltage from the label on the side of the psu

cannot find the psu from the description you posted

I dont know what wattage is please help

And I installed Speed fan ... what is remote 2 ??? my temperature on remote 2 is shooting to 60 C .....

Ok mine is +12v and 15A

see if you can borrow a psu with 18a or more on the 12v line to try in it
