Re: pc hangs up when playing games

First of all, what is the brand name and wattage of your power supply?

Second, enter the Bios setup menu and check the temperatures and Voltages in there so we can see what is happening in those areas.

Post back with information/questions/concerns.

Re: pc hangs up when playing games

The first suspect is the power supply. First of all, you need a bare minimim of a 550 watt supply (a quality one) to run this video card and second, the power supply you have is a generic unit that is very weak. Even though it worked for a while, as it begins to age, you are most likely not getting enough power.

Do you know someone who has a PSU you could borrow to try in this rig?

Re: pc hangs up when playing games

oh..you're right..my PSU is a generic one..and i see your point...

i'm really new to this..but is it for sure that my PSU is my problem?
Sadly..i have no one that i could borrow from..so i'll probably buy a new one...and if so..what is the best brand out there...thank you again for your time..

Re: pc hangs up when playing games

Best brands out there are the Corsair, Seasonic, or PC Power % Cooling. Here is an example of an excellent buy and it is a 650 (which would allow you some room to upgrade in the near future), and it is the same price as a comparable 550. An excellent buy and about as good as it gets with a power supply:

Please understand, until you get a good power supply in there, we won't have any idea if this is the ONLY issue you have or if it will solve the issue. That is why I suggested you try to borrow one first. However, you do need a decent supply anyhow, so not much is lost if this is not the whole issue.
