Exceeding Volt Limitations on Power Suppies
I looked up my model on newegg and it said that it has overvolt protection. So what exactly happens if my new rig tries to over draw from the power supply? A simple boot error that tells me to up the available watts or an destruction of my new computer parts?

Re: Exceeding Volt Limitations on Power Suppies
In theory: The Overvolt protection "should" protect the PC.
In reality: that would be dependent on the quality of the PSU. Low qualtiy PSU's very often take other hardware with them when they fail -Mobo & CPU being the most common. Quality PSU's just cease to operate when they fail.
