Ram issue

I have two sticks of ram, and I recently sent one in for an rma because I believed it to be faulty. When Install the module of ram that I received back from the company, by it's self or with my other one, my computer either freezes on the windows loading screen, or automatically restarts. I highly doubt that I received a faulty module from the company, is there anything else that could be causing this?

Re: Ram issue

It appears you've done the checking (you didn't mention if you tried the stick in different slots) and it certainly sounds like a bad stick.

Re: Ram issue

I have tried the all four of the slots on my computer, but with no luck. I am reluctant to assume that it is a bad stick as this is twice I have had to send it to the factory for replacement. The odds that it would be bad twice seem very low to me. Is there any other possible conclusion?

Re: Ram issue

If the other stick works, by itself, in all four slots and the replacement stick won't work in any of the four slots....it's defective. The only other possibility is the RAM is not compatible with your Mobo.
What brand is the RAM and where did you purchase it?

Re: Ram issue

Also dont be so insistent that the ram is good either,
I have had my fair share with bad ram, had to send back 3 times before
I had recieved a good stick or sticks, and yes they were supposedly bran new sticks also, corsiar brand at that.

Re: Ram issue

I didnt mean it was bad for sure, just trying to tell you to keep an open mind is all
sometimes we get so drowned into the problem, we miss the obvious.

I usually just step away from it for awhile and then come back with a fresh mind again
to fix the problem, I know sometimes it can become so irritating to figure out.

Now with this in mind lets start here with:

make and model of pc?
What kind of ram did you purchase?

Example: Dell Dimension 4400
DDR2 512MB 667Mhz (of course this incorrect but just showing what info I would like to see please).

My apologies, I should have elaborated when I ask what kind of RAM you purchased.
I should have ask the brand and specs of the RAM.
GSkill is quality RAM but all manufacturer's can have problems.
I would email Newegg support and strongly voice your dissatisfaction.
They may offer you some compensation.

Re: Ram issue

I built my pc from the ground up from parts I bought from newegg, such as my ram, and parts that I purchased from a local computer part store named fry's electronics.

The Ram I have Gskill f2-8000 DDR2-1000 2gbx2
I have two modules of the same type of ram, and only one of them works.
One strange issue with my ram is that one module has two metalic clips on the top, and the other does not, I think this is just a cosmetic issue, but I don't know.

I also bought the ram about eight months ago. I don't know how long newegg's waranty stretches for, but I doubt it's that long.

Thanks for all the help guys.
