[SOLVED] PSU Compatibility.

I obviously need a new PSU for my old PC (I still use it, why not it's fine!) But I don't know if I buy a PSU will it be compatible with my MOBO.

Mobo- Model Compaq 0784h
Chipset- Intel i845D rev 04

Current PSU is standard Compaq 250W.

I need a new one, can anyone recommend me one that can run on my system?

EDIT: I just realised the PC Game support is probably not the place for this thread, sorry.

Re: PSU Compatibility.

In an older system with a 6200 AGP card the 250w will do ok is there a problem with the PSU? If you need to replace it I would move it up to a 350 but if it's working leave it be.

Re: PSU Compatibility.

It's just that every game I play sends the PSU to 100% or arount 80% and sustains for the duration of the game, it even happens while watching movies or streaming video. Plus it's more than half a decade old and is only a standard OEM brand.

Re: PSU Compatibility.

it's probably also maxing out the cpu and video card, a larger psu will quiet the system down but I feel you would better served putting the money towards a new build.
