is my RAM correct?

Hi

I have an inspiron 531 running AMD athlon 64 x2 2.31ghz
and i had 1GB RAM

im running windows vista home premium sp1

i went to crucial website to check for the ram i needed for upgrade and i ordered 2x1GB of kingston ddr2 pc2-6400

now i thought this would be 2 modules of 1GB but i received one 2GB module

i installed it to test it out anyway, but i was under the impression i could not install more than 1GB in each slot?

i have installed it and when i go to contol panel and system it is showing 3GB which is correct, but the crucial scanner website said

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

here is a screen shot of what i have now, i also have that little vista widget that shows the amount of ram being used and it has come down from 60-70% when i had only 1Gb and is now at around 35% but im still not sure if this is utilising the whole 2GB of new memory that i installed?

Re: is my RAM correct?

It should be 1Gig per slot to give you the faster dual channel mode.
It works now because the 4th slot is empty if there was a stick in it most likely it would not boot.
